You might be asking yourself: "Why is he doing that? What for?". Let me explain.
My name is Alfred and not so long time ago I understood there was something wrong in my life... It's not like something is bad, it's just that feels like it's supposed to be other way. We all have this feeling from time to time. Feeling that we were born for something much more significant.
I spend 8 hours a day, 6 days a week making other people's dreams real. I bring dead images and simple words to life. I'm an animator. I really love what I do and enjoy every second of the process.
But what you should know about me is that I started animating at home when I was school age. Only when I grew older I the hobby turned into profession. And now the real life problems (like low budget, chief's ego, producers' narrow vision of art) start to spoil the magic of what I love about animating. Freedom. When you animate, you are the character and there are no limits for a character.
I want to animate and not think of pay checks, deadlines and bosses opinion. They say - Grow up, man! I say - I don't want to! There is much more about this life then just making money, it's enjoying what you do every moment of your life.
But nevertheless money is important. As mentioned in Bodo Schefer's The Road to Financial Freedom : Your First Million in Seven Years, "it's not that you just need to have a lot of money, it's that sometimes having not enough money won't let you do what you want to"...
So combining the both needs I came up with the idea of Independent Game Development for iPhone. App Store is a pretty good place to get income if you manage to produce a quality product and Game Development includes working with animation. Also it's something really new for me, therefore worth doing.
I do understand it's not an easy task for one person to do the job and may be I'm too self-confident about how real is the idea. But you never know until you try! :)
Anyway if I fail, you'll know what mistakes I made and if I succeed you'll know how exactly I did it!
